There are cabinets and shelves on
all sides of the classrooms, including locking closets for teachers
and hooks for coats and backpacks.
Reading Windows
There are two reading windows
in all of the classrooms except for the kindergarten classrooms.
(The kindergarten classrooms have a reading window on one side
of the rear wall and a door that leads out to the kindergarten
play area on the other side.) The reading windows are great for
students because when they sit down to read the window is low
enough for them to see outside.
Sinks and Wet Areas
Every classroom has a sink
and an uncarpeted "wet area" in the entrance area
of the classroom.
Ceilings
The ceiling height is lower in the
entrance of the classroom and higher above where the students
will sit.
Big Outside Windows
There are big windows across the back of each room that let
in a lot of outside light.
Partition Counters
The area for coats and backpacks
is separated from the main area of the classrooms by a counter
that teachers can use for creative activities.
Paired Rooms
Classrooms are paired together
with doors that open up for cross-classroom activities.
